Zeit's undergraduate degrees are taught entirely online from Geneva. You take the same methods core as our graduate students, work with real Zeit Neurolab data from year two, and finish with a supervised empirical thesis.

Two routes through the same rigorous core

BSc in Psychology

The BSc in Psychology is Zeit's foundational degree in the science of mind and behaviour. Over three years you move from the core pillars of psychology — cognitive, developmental, social and clinical — into rigorous research methods, statistics and a supervised empirical thesis. Teaching is fully online and seminar-based, with live cohort sessions from Geneva and asynchronous lab work you complete on your own schedule.

  • Explain the major theories and empirical findings across cognitive, developmental, social and clinical psychology
  • Design, run and report an ethical empirical study from hypothesis to manuscript
  • Analyse behavioural data using inferential statistics in R and interpret effect sizes honestly

BSc in Neuroscience

The BSc in Neuroscience takes you from single neurons to whole-brain systems and the computational models that connect them. It is the most quantitative of Zeit's undergraduate degrees: alongside cellular and systems neuroscience you build real programming and data-analysis skills, and every year includes hands-on work with Neurolab recordings and neuroimaging datasets.

  • Describe neural function from ion channels through circuits to distributed brain systems
  • Program in Python and analyse electrophysiological and neuroimaging data reproducibly
  • Build and evaluate computational models of neural and cognitive processes

Structure

How three years are built

Six modules a year, 60 ECTS per year, with live seminars from Geneva and asynchronous lab work you complete on your own schedule.

  1. 01

    Foundations

    Year one builds the vocabulary of the discipline — brain, behaviour and the statistics that separate a finding from a story.

  2. 02

    Method

    Year two is where you become a researcher: design, measurement, regression, and your first rotation on real Neurolab data.

  3. 03

    Independence

    Year three you specialise and write a supervised thesis to publication standard, with faculty who publish in the field.

Admission

Who we admit

Zeit is an open university: we admit on motivation and readiness rather than rank. No prior study of psychology, biology or programming is required.

  • Secondary school diploma (Matura, A-levels, IB, high-school diploma or recognised equivalent)
  • No prior study of psychology or biology required
  • Proficiency in English at B2 level or above
  • A short statement of motivation (500 words)
